In 2013 a mechanical delivery base (MechZB96) was built in Essen-Bergeborbeck for the Deutsche Post DHL to deliver packages in the Essen area. Therefor an unsupported warehouse of 41.00m clear space distance and 162.00m in length was erected. This type of building was specifically designed for an automated sorting plant, which is capable of sorting up to 3000 packages per hour and distributing them on the slides for the different postal zones. For the first time a two-storey section with administration and social areas for about 110 employees was integrated into the building. The plot area is about 21,200m², the gross floor area 6,700m² and the gross volume 62,800m². The production costs add up to 15 m Euros.
