We were commissioned by Standardkessel with the structural calculation as well as the creation of the steel construction overviews and anchor drawings for a newly planned primary fuel boiler plant for e.on Power Plants Belgium bvba company.

At the inland port in Duisburg a new administration and museum area was developed. Ther are old historic crane systems along the old harbour basin. Static documents are missing for some of them. As part of the biomass power plant that is to be constructed for the Standardkessel Baumgarte company on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, the ECOPLANT Filtrations GmbH company assigned us to create auditable static calculations according to AISC imd IBC2009 for the supporting framework, the side stage, the foundation anchor bolts and the stair tower of the electric filter. Furthermore we prepared the steel construction drawings.

For a new tenant three logistics halls including administration and social areas were built. They are designed to hold a 6,000m² space for dangerous goods, 10,000m² of shelf space and 10,000m² Crossdock-space. This complex also holds the administration and social space with an area of about 1,200m². All in all about 100 new jobs were created.

The existing facility of Kuehne + Nagel (AG +Co.) KG in the Logport commercial area in Duisburg has been extended by seven new warehouses with office and social buildings and 72 truckloading bays between 2010 and 2011. The 2-storey office buildings are located in front of the warehouses. The concrete slabs are designed in consideration of fire water retention according to WHG codes. The property area is about 65,000m², the gross floor area 40,400m² and the gross building volume: 538,400m³.
Our services included fabrication design and drawings, co-ordination with all technical and mechanical planners for: fireprotection, building services, building physics and Consulting; co-ordination of the design and process of the prefabricated concrete structure.

The existing girders of a weigh-bridge built in 1955 were worn-out and corroded so they had to be replaced. The new girders, connected to the existing scale apparatus had to be designed under consideration of the current standards. Pfleiderer, a manufacturer of wood products decided to erect a production plant for fibreboards in Novgorod, Russia. The client already operates a production plant for chipboards at this site. The Dieffenbacher company from Eppingen in Germany is in charge as general contractor for all machinery and technical equipment. Pfleiderer awarded different civil engineering offices with the planning of various building units. Our office received contracts for planning the drying plant, the building for glue metering and fibre processing, the structures for the electrostatic filters and the power plant building, as well as the foundations for the pipe bridges.
Our performances included general and structural design, co-ordinating the mechanical engineers, static calculations, formwork and reinforcement drawings. Further we continue construction controlling on behalf of the client (Pfleiderer).

The existing elevating conveyor belt, which transports ore and coke to the blast furnace, had reached its maximum load Change. Therefore it had to be replaced. The new conveyor system, a welded steel structure, was prefabricated in four sections at Hoffmeier GmbH in Hamm, Germany. The single sections were delivered by to Bremen by ship, where they had been assembled on site. The conveyor structure is supported in two points. It’s length measures 85m, it‘s width 6.50m and it‘s structural height is 2.20m.

A new building was erected for the main distribution centre. It had to meet the requirements of the modern storage technology and the sorting plant with its automated conveyor. In the Bochum plant the existing wide strip mill, to mill sheet metal coils, was extended by a preheating oven. Therefore the double-span hall construction had to be extended by 2 areas (30m) . It contains crane girder for bridge cranes that hold up to 260t hoisting capacity. The existing lot crane girder had to be striped down accordingly. The crane girder have supporting widths between 15m and 30m.

The clearance height of the container crane portal needed to be raised from 14m to 17.50m. Therefore the crane had to be reconstructed. A new frame structure was assembled on site and installed before the old support frame was removed. The crane has a total height of 70m, the boom reaches out 46m and it has a max. lifting capacity of 60t. The crane can be moved with it’s 20 wheel sets, the track gauge measures 18m.

The Baumgarte company delivered the boiler equipment, including the structural design for the waste disposal plant in Moskau, built by EVN (Energieversorgung Niederoesterreich), Austria. For structural and economic reasons, the boiler house had to be attached to the main structure of the incinerator. Further a turbine chamber had to be included in the building.

The existing production building, built in the 1940s, had to be raised from 12m to 23m in height for the expansion of the production line. The plant kept producing during construction and the production process could not be interupted. First the building was raised before the existing roof was taken off.

To increase their pulp production capacity, the Zellstoff Stendal company needed to install two more boilers. Therefore the boiler building (built in 2003) had to be extended to accommodate the two additional boilers. In the original design (completed by our office) the extension of the building was already concidered and the foundations for the extension were built in 2003. The steel structure had to be erected free-standing seperate from the building. The new gable wall had to be built on pile foundations to avoid differential settlement.

The CHP (combined heat and power station) was modified in the area around a former coal boiler. Therefore two gas turbines for electric power generation with heat recovery were installed. The two kettles for heat recovery have chimneys that are 60m high. Kettles and chimneys were placed in a new building infront of the existing building.
